Last Christmas holiday, my teenager received gift cards as Christmas presents for all of his favorite stores…Amazon, Gap, Barnes and Nobles, McDonalds, Walmart, and a Visa gift card for X amount of dollars. The value of these cards, I am guessing were worth a lot because he identified himself as a “Gift Card Millionaire forward slash / KING”! Fascinated with the dollar value of each card, for days, he devilishly flashed his deck of gift cards like he would performing a cheesy card trick! I noticed each card was stuck to a cardboard backing, it was very plain looking. I asked him what is your favorite kind of Christmas, he responded, “Getting GiftCard Wasted! My favorite kind of Christmas is getting a bunch of gift cards so I can blow it on whatever I want!” Speechless , was my response! He grabbed his sandwich, waved goodbye, off to school he went. Still processing what he said, my mind gave birth to an awesome idea…”DIY gift card envelopes”! I know gift card envelopes come in all different sorts of designs, colors and shapes…we have all seen them before strolling through store aisles, but I created my own gift card envelope using actual brain power and scrap paper.
For at least 2 months, I tweaked, cut, folded, measured, tried all sorts of paper, laughed, cried, howled at the moon, threw up my hands, waved my white flag, and after a hundred cups of coffee, and 3 bandaids later…I created my own gift card envelope masterpiece.” They are great for any kind of holiday, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, Christmas or simply a nice way to say thank you! It’s also small enough to be used as a stocking stuffer or even as a secret santa gift! Each envelope was handcrafted with a small sleeve to place a gift card. To add a personal touch, each envelope has a matching card to write a personalized small note.
